1. How
is the Matol Diet different from other
protein diets on the market?
- The Matol
Diet treats the weight problem at
its source. By the time you reach
your weight loss goal, you will
have transformed your body’s
ability to metabolize sugar by
reeducating your pancreas to
produce only the right amount of
insulin needed, no more.
- The Matol
Diet aims at reducing
carbohydrates and fats, not
protein. In so doing, it preserves
muscle tissue and protects vital
organs to secure their proper
function. In other words, you will
lose fat, not muscle.
- The Matol
Diet features a whopping 18 to 20
grams of protein per portion,
twice as much as most of the
competition.
- The Matol
Diet features a high quality
protein, complete with nine (9)
amino acids, that recreates 100%
of the biological value of a
complete protein for maximum
assimilation and absorption.
- The Matol
Diet is less toxic than other
protein diets because it features
less saturated fats, no trans
fats, no aspartame, no Monosodium
Glutamate (MSG) and no
Genetically-Modified Organisms (GMOs).
2. Is
the Matol Diet safe?
The Matol Diet
is safe for everyone, except those
with a dysfunctional liver or kidneys.
Diabetics Type I should only do the
less strict diet and women who are
pregnant or breast feeding should only
use the Matol Diet protein foods to
supplement their diet.
3. Is
the Matol Diet safe for people on
blood pressure and fluid medication?
Yes. People with
high blood pressure are often
overweight and will definitely benefit
from the Matol Diet. However, they
will have to be mindful of their salt
intake, as prescribed by their
physician.
4. Is
the Matol Diet safe for Diabetics,
Type I and Type II, as well as for
hypoglycemics (low blood sugar)?
Diabetics have
so much to gain from the Matol Diet
because regulating glycemia is at the
very heart of the Matol Diet. While we
cannot reverse Type I Diabetes (we can
only help those afflicted to lose
weight), a strict Accelerated Matol
Diet can help reverse Type II Diabetes
or, at the very least, diminish the
condition’s vulnerabilities.
Type II
Diabetics and people who suffer from
hypoglycemia can follow either the
Accelerated Matol Diet or the less
strict diet whereas Type I Diabetics
should only follow the less strict
diet.
Still, diabetics
need be particularly vigilant on the
Matol Diet. In the first few weeks on
the Matol Diet, people suffering from
hypoglycemia should not exercise as
much as usual in order to facilitate
the reeducation of their pancreas and
give their body a chance to readjust
to its new eating habits. As well,
they should stock up on the Matol Diet
Peach Mango drink, in case they find
themselves in the midst of a low blood
sugar crisis, which is predictable in
their case. When it happens, they
should sit down, breathe deeply and
reach for a Matol Peach Mango diet
beverage. It will calm them instantly.
They must be confident in the
knowledge that their body, more
specifically their pancreas, will, in
time, soon, readjust itself to
function as it was originally intended
by nature.
5. I’m
on medication. Is the Matol Diet safe
for me?
The Matol Diet
is most likely safe for you but still,
we recommend that you consult your
physician prior to beginning the Matol
Diet. Remember, Matol Diet foods
are real foods, drug-free with no
stimulants. Each Matol Diet food is
the equivalent, nutritionally, to a
chicken breast, a small filet mignon
or a filet of fish.
6. Is
the Matol Diet safe for children and
what is the minimum age for following
the Matol Diet?
Growing children
should not be on any diet. If a parent
wants to replace his child’s
unhealthy snacks with healthy foods,
including Matol Diet foods, the parent
must ensure that the child understands
the reasons why they are being
deprived of these foods. If not, the
child may react adversely by wanting
those unhealthy foods even more than
before.
7. What
is the difference between the Matol
Diet and the alternate Matol
Diet?
Both Matol Diets
have 4 steps:
- Stage 1:
70% Success
- Stage 2:
30% Success
- Stage 3:
Maintenance
- Stage 4:
Stabilization
The only
difference between them is that people
on the alternate diet are permitted up
to three (3) additional food items per
day, one from each of the three
different food groups: carbohydrates
(Group I), fruits (Group II) and fats
(Group III).
The alternate
diet reduces potential cravings and
makes it easier to be faithful to the
diet and still lose weight, only a
little slower than on the accelerated
diet. The less strict diet is for
people who simply are not willing to
forego their morning toast or daily
fruit, for example.
Please note that
the chances of not regaining the lost
weight are greatly increased by
following the Matol Diet, because on
the Matol Diet, the pancreas is given
the unequivocal chance of restoring
its proper regulation of glycemia.
8. If,
on the alternate Matol Diet, I feel I
am able to cut down on one or two of
the foods from the food groups in any
given day, which food group should I
cut out, to lose weight faster?
The
carbohydrates (Group 1) are the first
foods to cut out, to lose weight
faster, followed by the fruits (Group
2), then the fats (Group 3).
Why? Because of the sugar in both
carbohydrates (Group 1) and fruits
(Group 2).
The primary goal
of the Matol Diet is to burn calories
from your own fat and carbohydrates’
reserves. So, the less carbohydrates
and fruits you eat, the faster you
will lower your own fat reserves.
9. If
hungry, can I take an additional Matol
Diet food?
Yes. If you’re
still hungry, over and above the
recommended foods on either the
accelerated Matol Diet or the less
strict diet, you can have up to five
(5) Matol Diet foods per day, but no
more than one (1) Matol Diet cake,
pancake or oatmeal per day, as these
are higher in carbohydrates than the
other Matol Diet foods.
10. Why
are fruits not allowed on the Matol
Diet?
While fruits do
not make you gain weight, they can
slow down and even prevent you from
losing weight. That’s because once
metabolized by the body, fruits
transform into sugar - or glucose -
and the glucose reserve is precisely
that which you want to deplete in
order to get your body to begin to
burn calories from your excess fat
supply.
Fruits are
denied on the Matol Diet only until
the weight loss goal is achieved.
Fruits are later introduced in the
stabilization period of the Matol
Diet, once your pancreas’ proper
metabolizing of sugars has been
restored.
You should know
that the body stores no more than
three (3) days’ worth of
carbohydrates in your body. The goal
of the Matol Diet is to empty the
body’s reserves of carbohydrates so
that it can begin to burn its reserve
of excess fat, all the while remaining
alert and vigorous through
muscle-building and organ-protecting
protein foods, such as Matol Diet
foods, eggs, lean meats, poultry, fish
and seafood.
11. Is
there anything I should know about
before starting the diet?
Yes. Although
many people do not experience any
discomfort and feel utterly satisfied
throughout the Matol Diet, some may
experience withdrawal symptoms, during
the first few days of the diet. This
is absolutely normal and should even
be anticipated, especially by those
who are used to consuming a lot of
processed foods, sweets and salty
foods.
The possible
withdrawal symptoms, in the first
week, are fatigue, dizziness, nausea
and hunger. This is your body’s way
of reacting against the fact that it
is not receiving its habitual dose of
sugar (or salt). Those who
suffer from hunger can indulge in up
to five (5) Matol Diet foods per day,
but no more than one (1) Matol Diet
cake, pancake or oatmeal per day, as
these are higher in carbohydrates.
Physiologically,
what is happening is that your
hypophyse gland is sending distress
signals to your brain, so used is it
to receiving its sugar fix on a daily
basis. Don’t panic! This is
exactly where you want to be, if you
want to transform your body’s
ability to metabolize/digest sugars
properly.
When any of
these symptoms occur, take a deep
breath and relax. Sip on a large glass
of water. Take an extra shot of Km,
either pure or with mineral water with
a splash of lime or lemon and reassure
yourself that this feeling will soon
pass and that when it does, you will
experience energy like never before.
Three to four days is the maximum
these symptoms will last.
If the
withdrawal symptoms persist into the
second week, call us promptly. Chances
are you are forgetting something or
doing something you shouldn’t be
doing, as minute as adding Coffee Mate
to your coffee in the morning or a few
drops of balsamic vinegar to your
favorite greens.
Another symptom
associated with weight loss is bad
breadth. This occurs when the body
goes into ketosis, which means the
body has exhausted its
carbohydrates’ supply and is
reaching instead into your fat reserve
to produce energy and burn calories
from fat. Again, a good sign. In
such a case, just brush your teeth a
little more often or chew gum.
12. Can
I expect constant weight loss?
Yes. However,
menstruation conceals weight loss, as
the body retains more water at that
time of the month to protect the
reproductive organs. As soon as
the menstrual cycle is over, women
will notice the continued weight loss.
Be aware that
one quart of water weighs
approximately two pounds so it’s
best to weigh yourself at the same
time, each time, ideally first thing
in the morning, before ingesting any
food or beverage.
13. What
is sucralose?
Sucralose is a
sweetener derived from sugar cane.
Splenda is the brand name for
sucralose. It tastes like sugar
but, thanks to a process, sucralose
has zero (0) calories and is not
assimilable by the body, which means
that it has zero (0) impact on the
blood and its glycemia.
If you find some
of the Matol Diet products too sweet,
simply stretch them with a little more
water.
14. Why
do you ask people to supplement with
salt? Aren’t we supposed to be
mindful of our salt intake?
The USDA (U.S.
Department of Agriculture Food Guide)
recommends that people consume 2,300
mg (approximately 1 teaspoon) of salt,
per day. That quantity is often
exceeded by the mere presence of the
bulk of industrial foods consumed each
and every day in North America,
including breads, pastas and cheeses,
all saturated with salt. That’s why
most doctors tell their patients to
away from salt, generally speaking.
With all that salt, you need not add
more salt to your food.
The Matol Diet
has none of these industrial foods.
And even if Matol Diet foods are
salted, you need to add salt to your
diet: lightly sprinkle your vegetables
and your protein source, whatever it
may be, meat, poultry, fish, seafood,
eggs or tofu, with sea salt to ensure
that your body has all the sodium it
needs to function properly.
15. What
is the best way to cook foods?
Cooking in water
is not as good as baking, broiling,
grilling or microwaving because the
longer you boil food, the more
nutrients are lost. Cooking breaks
down the cell wall, softening it,
allowing the nutrients to pass out of
the cells and into the water. Of
course, raw is best as it preserves
intact the enzymes’ full potential,
all of the foods’ nutrients unharmed
by cooking.
Many have
reported that the cake’s texture is
better baked in the oven than
microwaved but you be the judge.
16. Any
suggestions for adding a little
variety to Matol Diet foods?
Sure, plenty.
Make paper thin Matol Diet pancakes by
stretching your batter with water (or
soda water for even more lightness)
and garnish the inside with a little
diced meat or vegetables and the
outside with your favorite Matol Diet
soup-turned-into-a-delicious-sauce. Or
garnish your Matol Diet pancakes with
a dollop of pudding for dessert. Half
freeze your puddings for a refreshing
dessert. Make Peach Mango and Cocoa
popsicles for the kids. Hearty your
soups with meat or vegetables. Make
the Matol Maple Oatmeal with only one
ounce of water and bake into cookies.
Make great shakes out of the puddings
by doubling the quantity of water.
Make a creamy, nutritionally-packed
snack by mixing one Matol Diet Maple
Oatmeal and one Matol Diet Chocolate
pudding with 250 to 300 mL of water.
17. Is
the Matol Diet considered a high,
medium or low calorie diet?
The accelerated
Matol Diet would be considered a
medium to low calorie diet whereas the
less strict Matol Diet, which
incorporates additional foods from
Groups I, II and III, would be
considered a medium calorie diet.
The Matol Diet is neither a hypo
protein diet nor a hyper protein diet.
The Matol Diet offers the optimal
quantity of proteins, vitamins and
minerals required to ensure the proper
functioning of all body systems.
18. Why
are protein foods so vital?
The immune
system, all of your vital organs, your
eyes, your nails, your hair, your skin
and your muscles: all are made of
protein.
Muscles are the
engine that burns calories. So, the
more muscle you have, the more
calories you burn and the more
calories you burn, the more fat you
burn. That’s why men lose weight
faster than women, because the
majority of them have greater muscle
mass than women.
19. Why
do people following the Matol Diet
plan have to take supplements?
It is important
for people following the Matol Diet
Plan to supplement their diet with Km,
Matol MegaVitamins, Matol Calcium
& Magnesium and Matol Omega 3-6-9,
as specified in the Matol Diet Plan,
to compensate for nutrients otherwise
present in foods from Groups I, II and
III. If they don’t, their body’s
systems will be lacking the nutrients
they need to function optimally.
20. I
find that the Cocoa Drink is hard to
mix. How do you recommend that it be
dissolved?
It is best to
first pour the cold water in, then the
powder, before whisking or shaking to
a smooth texture. Only heat it once it
is well blended.
21.
Can I incorporate Matol FibreSonic®
in my Matol Diet?
FibreSonic® is
not appropriate for the Matol Diet
during Stages 1 and 2 of the Matol
Diet, that is, until you've reached
100% of your weight loss goal, because
of the high carbohydrate value of
FibreSonic. Even if it’s a good
source of carbohydrates, complex
carbohydrates, whose molecular
structure breaks down slowly in the
system for sustained energy,
FibreSonic® is derived from the
dehydrated pulp of wholesome fruits,
vegetables and from grains, the bulk
of which are not permitted on the
Matol Diet. As soon as you achieve
your goal, then incorporate FibreSonic®
as you would any other carbohydrate
food and enjoy!
